Answered: Advanced Search - categories and words, narrow by language

Hello

I was wondering, if it's possible to to the following tasks with Advanced Site Search:

1)
Limit the search by language when using Joom!Fish.
User 1 searches on the English version of the website = he should get English articles only.
User 2 uses the search on the German part of the website = he should get articles in German only.

2)
Limit the search by category.
Can I define what categories to search in = can I exclude some unwanted categories? If yes, is it possible to have severals search modules? One search module searches in category A only, the second search module searches in category B only and so on?

Please note: 2) is for backend only, not for the users in the frontend. Users in the frontend should not be able to choose what category to search in. Instead they should use the proper search-module.

3)
Exclude unwanted word from search.
On several pages I load modules into the content with the loadposition: {loadposition topmodule-1}.
Now I don't want the search to fetch the word(s) between the curly brackets ("topmodule" in this example).
Is it possible to exclude single words or even whole stings, or for example "do not fetch words between curly brackets" in the backend configuration?

Thank you very much!
Regards
Patrick

Re: Answered: Advanced Search - categories and words, narrow by language

Patrick let me try to answer this.

1. This should technically be handled by the Joomfish. We have not tried this, I asked the development team and they want to test this and see the results.

2. Yes .. this is basically how the support search page here is configured with two search modules. In our case one is configured to search a component (agora forum) and the other certain K2 categories http://anything-digital.com/forum.html

3. I do not think you can add wildcards to the 'ignore list' however you should be able to add any string.

Re: Answered: Advanced Search - categories and words, narrow by language

Patrick,

I have gone ahead and tested this and the results were 100% positive in my case. The results by default follow the currently selected language.

test environment: J1.5.25, en and jp, sh404SEF enabled and current, Advanced Site Search enabled and current

I hope this helps

Ron
