ANSWERED: Slash missing between domainand request

ANSWERED: Slash missing between domainand request

Hi,

I have an issue with parked domains which I would like to point to my main domain, matbase.com. I used to have all domains on different shared hosting plans, but I moved to another hoster that offered me more control over my site. I hoped to reduce maintenance load, by parking two domains and keep my site on just one domain. The hosted sites however have been hosting some version of my site for some time and are indexed by Google or have links from other sites pointing at them.

My plan was to use mod_rewrite to resolve all incoming requests to an equivalent on matbase.com or the 404 page. The top level domains will resolve just fine but whatever I do, the leading slash for requests is removed: matbase.nl/news will rewrite to matbase.comnews.

I used CNAME's matbase.nl. --> www.matbase.com. and also tried adding the following script to htaccess

Code:

#Rewrite all incoming requests except for main domain and dev subdomain
Rewrite %{HTTP_HOST} !^(www|dev)/.matbase.com$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^/?(.*) http://www.matbase.com/$1 [R=301,L]

Any suggestions?

Regards,

Richard

Re: ANSWERED: Slash missing between domainand request

Hi Jimie,

I spend over a week looking on Google for a solution and trying different things, but no mather what, I always ended up with something like domain.comnews. I figuredit was something in the sh404sef component or the htaccess-file generated by sh404sef, I just added some lines in an effort to makle it work. So after quit some sleepless nights I finally turned to you for some help, so if you have any suggestion, I'd be very grateful.

Regards,

Richard

Re: ANSWERED: Slash missing between domainand request

Hello

Sh404sef dosn`t generated any .htaccess file it simply use default joomla htaccess file to work. As told before we can`t provide support for .htaccess custom code.

And for your information we suggest to not use multiple domains for the same content as that means duplicate content, so you better use a code and redirect 301 that subdomain to your main domain

Re: ANSWERED: Slash missing between domainand request

That was exactly what I am trying to achieve. But now I know sh404sef does not alter htaccess

Thanks for clearing that up.

Richard
