SOLVED: Menu active while on a sub-page in order to display modules

SOLVED: Menu active while on a sub-page in order to display modules

On my blog I have several pages that are not directly linked to a menu. I need to know if it's possible that while navigating to these pages to be able to display the main menu's modules (Blog page's modules). So somehow the main menu button should remain active. As it is setup now, it doesn't remain active when navigating to a sub-page.

I took a look at the settings: 'advanced/Insert menu Itemid if none'
Is this the option I need to switch on? The last thing I need is to mess up my sefurls... It is required to purge the urls. That means I have to re-do the whole structure manually?

Any advice is much appreciated.
Thank you!

Hello florin,

First please update your sh404sef version, as for your problem, can you give me an example of a sef url and its corresponding non-sef url from "URL manager" ?

Re: SOLVED: Menu active while on a sub-page in order to display modules

Hi Jimie!

Here's is an example:
sef url - http://www.echolimousine.com/blog/goodb … assic.html
non-sef url - index.php?option=com_content&catid=7&id=40&lang=en&view=article

So if it's possible, I would like to be able to display on the page above the modules listed here (the main blog page): http://www.echolimousine.com/blog

Thank you for your time!

He;;p florin,

As you can see that non-sef url does not have any Itemid present on it, so you should fix the non-sef url present on your website

Re: SOLVED: Menu active while on a sub-page in order to display modules

So this is the way to do it by activating the "Insert menu Itemid if none" and follow the steps?

Thank you!

Hello florin,

No, just simply find that non-sef url in your website content, and make sure it has present an Itemid on it

Re: SOLVED: Menu active while on a sub-page in order to display modules

Sorry, but how can I do that? How can I edit a non-sef url? Don't necessarily have to explain, but can you point me to the manual of how this is done? I cannot just play around with these urls, don't want to mess something up.

Thanks again!

Re: SOLVED: Menu active while on a sub-page in order to display modules

Hello florin,

1. Go to your menu manager and see what the "Blog" menu Itemid, and keep it in mind

Now you can have two possibilities:
a) this is permanet: You can go to "URL manager" delete that sef url. then click on the "New" button and recreated the sef url and in the non-sef url add: index.php?option=com_content&catid=7&id=40&lang=en&view=article&Itemid=999 ( where 999 is blog menu itemid )

b) You can access: http://wwww.your-website.com/index.php?option=com_content&catid=7&id=40&lang=en&view=article&Itemid=999 ( where 999 is blog menu itemid ) and then go to "URL manager" search for that sef url, click on the duplicates and set as main url the non-sef url which contain the Itemid

Possibility b) is not too good as it will be lost if you`ll purge sef urls
