Item Dated for March 11 Does Not Show On JCal

Item Dated for March 11 Does Not Show On JCal

Our calendar generally displays correctly.  You can see the flat calendar display at:

http://www.hiddenvilla.org/calendar/flat/date/2012-3-1

However, the item "Cheese Pizza Lunch" is supposed to be on March 11 (daylight savings day), but when schedule it for March 11th it shows on March 10th.  As a workaround we are posting the real date in the title. If we set the date for Mar 10th or 12th it displays on the correct day, but if it is set for Mar 11th, it displays on Mar 10th!

Both Joomla's and JCal's time zones are set to Pacific time.

Does anyone have any ideas on why this item does not display on this day, or recommend something we can check?

Thanks

Re: Item Dated for March 11 Does Not Show On JCal

I am having the same issue on my site. I can select any other date and have it show correctly but it will not let me post of March 11th.

Re: Item Dated for March 11 Does Not Show On JCal

Hi Heather,

We ultimately fixed this by adjusting the Joomla global configuration and JCal time zones to Central time.  This is 2 hours off from our real time.  But at least the Mar 11th items show in the correct date.

Cheers

Re: Item Dated for March 11 Does Not Show On JCal

These issues are generally related to time-zones as snowtech illustrates.

Generally JCal time and Joomla server time should be set in an identical zone. Often it is easiest to start at UTC-0/London to test if it is OK there. Then adjust to appropriate timezones.

Gladly v3 will be much less sensitive to this as the developers have created a innovative new way to deal with these issues much more effectively.

Re: Item Dated for March 11 Does Not Show On JCal

New problem. Since I changed my time zone to central, so I could show March 11th. It also changed my start time for all of the events I already had listed in my calendar by two hours. Did you guys ever figure out why March 11th is liked by the PST time zone? Any new ideas on a fix for March 11th so I can be in the proper time zone and not have my start times switch?
