Search Categories on module of Search Advanced

Search Categories on module of Search Advanced

Configuring the Advanced Site Search module
...
Set ItemID - Explicitly specify the Itemid for the search results. This may be useful if you have multiple menu items for the Advanced Site Search component.  Results from the search module will load on a page with modules assigned to the specific Itemid, thus giving the correct layout for the desired search page.
Search Categories - Used to filter the module's search result withing the selected categories..
Plugin Area(s) to search - Limit the search in this module to the search areas specified as a comma-seperated list without spaces. For example:  categories, content, contacts, weblinks.  See Creating Search Areas
Show Search Areas - Defines whether Search Areas should be shown in the module form.
...
Where is "Search Categories" on module? In my form is not there (version is 3.0.2 build)!
"Set ItemID" is only plugin Search - Items Advanced (asitems for images, pdfs, etc.)?

Re: Search Categories on module of Search Advanced

Franco Giusti,

Sorry about the delay. Let me see if I can review these quickly

Set ItemID

This mainly affects how other items are shown on the page. Joomla uses the itemid from menu configurations in order to place modules on the page. If you have no menu items or multiple menu items for Advanced Search you may want to use a itemid in this field to control what modules are shown. The easiest way is to look at the non-sef url of a page you like and then put the number from itemid= in this field to make the same modules display when the module's results are returned.

These are not displayed in the J1.7 version I will log a ticket with the developers to look at this right away

Plugin Area(s) to search

If you look under Plugins in Advanced Site Search you will see a list of plugins. If you add any of these here (the part after "Search - " only). It will restrict the results to items from those plugins only. For example if you only put "categories, sections" it will display results only if the search term is found in the category and section description and names only.

Show Search Areas

If set to yes, the user will be able to drill down by selecting from the available search areas.

Hope this helps

Any news on it? We bought this component for the only reason to have the opportunity to use two separate modules that search in separate and predefind categories. With Advanced Search Build 3.0.3.1332 it isn't possible although the documentation references to this funktion.

Re: Search Categories on module of Search Advanced

It is a little unsatisfying because there is a missing funtion und we don't get an answer to this issue. We paid for something useless.
