Advanced Search does not use and index, it does however us cache (you can Enable and disable it under the Advanced Search settings. It may not required but you may want to check is that your Joomla Cache Plugin is enabled and published last.... Jan-10-12 10:52:43

Looks like a php error (blank screen). If you can enable error reporting in Joomla global configuration you may see errors displayed on the page. It may give you the information you need to troubleshoot the issue. Post the results here if... Dec-21-11 21:45:17
