SEO fun and more at Mozcation Milwaukee

On Oct. 3, 2012 we were honored to speak at Mozcation Milwaukee, a local SEO event organized by the good folks over at SEOMoz.

Mozcation Milwaukee was an excellent event — held at the gorgeous Harley Davidson Museum — and Rand Fishkin and his crew gave exciting talks and brought new insights for the 200+ crowd who attended.

All about SEO

I spoke about what things to look for when selecting and optimizing a CMS with regard to SEO. To broaden the scope of the talk, I used open source examples from Joomla, Drupal and Wordpress to highlight some of the key elements such as canonical URL support, page title patterns and customization, the importance of a centralized URL manager and more.

About Mozcation Milwaukee

Mozcation events are held in 2-3 locations each year and I want to thank our friends at Regal Creative for spearheading the efforts to make Milwaukee a stop on the 2012 Mozcation circuit.

You can check out the full video of the event below — my 10-minute session begins at the 45  minute mark — as well as some other Milwaukee SEO events we present at.
