In April we launched a great new feature called Locations for JCal Pro® — the Joomla calendar — that adds geolocation to your events.

We received great feedback about this feature and were thrilled to announce earlier this month that Locations and JCal Pro® would be the cornerstone of the new events site on Joomla.org.

Locations is only available in the JCal Pro® Standard and Ultimate subscription plans. So to get this exciting feature in the hands more users we are offering a $10 discount.

Since we launched Josetta® — the translation manager for multilingual Joomla 2.5 web sites — we have had many requests from users who have translated their sites using third-party tools.

Unfortunately, using custom tools often leads to vendor lock-in and upgrade issues if the tools are not updated on a consistent basis.

Many multilingual web sites are thus trapped in Joomla 1.5 — until now!

Today we officially announce a Joomla 1.5 migration tool specific for sites with content translated using Joomfish.

At J and Beyond this year I had the opportunity to discuss multilingual solutions for Joomla.

Below you’ll find the slides from my talk — with video to follow soon from the J and Beyond team — comparing the different features of multilingual solutions for Joomla.

The bulk of the talk shows how Josetta® fits in to provide an efficient and collaborative translation experience without sacrificing web site performance or compatibility with future Joomla versions.

I hope you enjoy the slides and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us directly or post a message in the pre-sales area of the forum.

Today we are proud to announce the immediate availability of Josetta® 1.2.3 build 334, which is fully compatible with Joomla! 2.5!

This is a maintenance release.

Release notes: This release introduces additional checks on titles and aliases for the Joomfish importer which automatically recover original articles, categories and menu items from Joomla! 1.5.x Joomfish-based sites into native Joomla! 2.5 multi-lingual items.

Today we are proud to announce the immediate availability of Advanced Site Search 3.0.4 (build 1349), which is fully compatible with Joomla! 1.5 and 2.5!

This is a maintenance release.

Notes: This release fixes several bugs in the Joomla 2.5 installation process, notifications and search module of Advanced Site Search.

At the J and Beyond conference this past weekend in Germany, a number of people commented to me that the vibe around this year’s meeting was very different from the 2011 conference.

Joomla Rocks! This was my third J and Beyond and I personally came away feeling a lot more encouraged, engaged, inspired and motivated than in previous years. Many folks expressed this same feeling, including past OSM president Ryan Ozimek (see video at right).

To be clear, the prior J and Beyond events as well as Joomla Days I attend have always given me a little extra purpose and warm feeling in my stomach. However, J and Beyond 2012 seems to have pushed those feelings to a much higher level.

This got me thinking about the changes in the Joomla project over the lifetime of J and Beyond — the past three years — that might have resulted in such a difference in my attitude specifically in 2012.

Today we are proud to announce the immediate availability of Josetta® 1.2.2 build 329, which is fully compatible with Joomla! 2.5!

This is a maintenance release.

Release notes: This release introduces additional checks for the NEW! Joomfish exporter and importer which automatically recover original articles, categories and menu items from Joomla! 1.5.x Joomfish-based sites into native Joomla! 2.5 multi-lingual items.

Today we are proud to announce the immediate availability of Josetta® 1.2.1 build 327, which is fully compatible with Joomla! 2.5!

This is a maintenance and feature release.

Release notes: NEW! Joomfish exporter and importer created: automatically recover original articles, categories and menu items from Joomla! 1.5.x Joomfish-based sites into native Joomla! 2.5 multi-lingual items. Plus addition of German and Hungarian translation, and updates to other translations.

A few weeks ago we invited you to join us at the 2012 J and Beyond Joomla developer conference in Germany where Anything Digital will be leading two sessions in the program.

The conference is now just a few weeks away and we are proud to announce that we are also officially sponsoring the event.

Community involvement is an important part of our mission at Anything Digital and we are happy to donate some of our resources to great causes such as conferences, Joomla Days and of course the various Joomla committees we participate in such as the recently-formed Events team.

In closing, please let me again invite you to join us at J and Beyond 2012.

We hope to meet you there!

For almost every community, the ability to meet and interact is often one of the most important ways that people share ideas and achieve their goals.

These meetings can be online using the plethora of tools available these days or they can be face-to-face meetings such as J and Beyond, the upcoming Joomla developer conference.

Critically, the ability to coordinate and promote these meetings and events can often mean the difference between a successful, growing community or an disconnected, stagnant one.

Thus, in both our volunteer work and professional projects, we generally recommend the use of a calendaring solution like JCal Pro® to facilitate group interactions.

We were very honored then when JCal Pro® was chosen by the Joomla project for the development of their most recent on-property resource — the new Joomla Events web site.

Today we are proud to announce the immediate availability of JCal Pro® 3.1.1 (build 563), which is fully compatible with Joomla! 2.5!

This is a maintenance and feature release.

This release includes fixes for various reported issues as well performance related improvements and language updates.

Josetta® is a tool that greatly simplifies the process of creating multilingual web sites with Joomla.

After ease of use, one of the most important features of Josetta® is that it creates native multilingual content items. This lack of vendor lock-in allows you to upgrade to new versions of Joomla at any time.

Thus, many add-on developers have contacted us for details about making their Joomla 2.5 extensions compatible with Josetta®.

To meet this demand, we have released both a technical manual for developers as well as some sample Josetta® plugins to use as guides.

Feel free to download these items in our Public Downloads area.

If you run into any problems or have questions about Josetta®, feel free to call or write Customer Service.

Today we are proud to announce the immediate availability of Advanced Site Search 3.0.3 (build 1332), which is fully compatible with Joomla! 1.5 and 2.5!

This is a maintenance release.

Notes: This release is to fix an issue in the Joomla 2.5 installation process of Advanced Site Search.

I’m sure many of you have noticed all the new releases and announcements in the last few months as we have been working hard to keep step with new releases of Joomla 2.5.

Similarly, many of our site-building colleagues have also been busy upgrading their sites to Joomla 2.5.

One of our favorite go-to web design and development shops is Savvy Panda — owned and operated by Gabe Wahhab.

Gabe and I have been supporting the local Joomla community for years by organizing local Joomla User Group Milwaukee and Joomla Day Midwest.

Today we are announcing more teamwork — a great contest to win a FREE Joomla 2.5 upgrade!

Besides the date and time, knowing the location of meeting, concert or even a flashmob is critical to the success of the event.

JCal Pro® has always included a Contact field where people could include location information for their events. However, this implementation was not always satisfactory.

For example, there was no way to store locations for quick access when creating new events. Thus, the same location had to be manually entered each time it was needed.

In addition, there was no way to display any geographic information about the events scheduled in a particular area.

That all changes with today’s release of JCal Pro®.

I am happy to announce that JCal Pro® 3.1 for Joomla 2.5 is currently available and ships with a robust location manager that overcomes prior limitations and adds exciting, new possibilities for event management and geolocation.
