A few weeks ago we invited you to join us at the 2012 J and Beyond Joomla developer conference in Germany where Anything Digital will be leading two sessions in the program.

The conference is now just a few weeks away and we are proud to announce that we are also officially sponsoring the event.

Community involvement is an important part of our mission at Anything Digital and we are happy to donate some of our resources to great causes such as conferences, Joomla Days and of course the various Joomla committees we participate in such as the recently-formed Events team.

In closing, please let me again invite you to join us at J and Beyond 2012.

We hope to meet you there!

For almost every community, the ability to meet and interact is often one of the most important ways that people share ideas and achieve their goals.

These meetings can be online using the plethora of tools available these days or they can be face-to-face meetings such as J and Beyond, the upcoming Joomla developer conference.

Critically, the ability to coordinate and promote these meetings and events can often mean the difference between a successful, growing community or an disconnected, stagnant one.

Thus, in both our volunteer work and professional projects, we generally recommend the use of a calendaring solution like JCal Pro® to facilitate group interactions.

We were very honored then when JCal Pro® was chosen by the Joomla project for the development of their most recent on-property resource — the new Joomla Events web site.

As some of you may have heard, we have recently made the difficult decision to discontinue our distribution contract for Agora bulletin board.

jVitals — the author of Agora — has been a reliable development partner but here at Anything Digital we have decided to step back and focus on our core competencies.

These include our flagship extensions like sh404SEF® and JCal Pro® — the latter of which has a new release pending and is chocked-full of new features — but also our development of new products such as the recently released Josetta.

Existing Agora subscribers will continue to have access to downloads and support at jVitals for the remainder of their subscriptions. If you have any trouble accessing your subscription, please be sure to contact jVitals.

Today we are proud to announce the immediate availability of JCal Pro® 3.1.1 (build 563), which is fully compatible with Joomla! 2.5!

This is a maintenance and feature release.

This release includes fixes for various reported issues as well performance related improvements and language updates.

Josetta is a tool that greatly simplifies the process of creating multilingual web sites with Joomla.

After ease of use, one of the most important features of Josetta is that it creates native multilingual content items. This lack of vendor lock-in allows you to upgrade to new versions of Joomla at any time.

Thus, many add-on developers have contacted us for details about making their Joomla 2.5 extensions compatible with Josetta.

To meet this demand, we have released both a technical manual for developers as well as some sample Josetta plugins to use as guides.

Feel free to download these items in our Public Downloads area.

If you run into any problems or have questions about Josetta, feel free to call or write Customer Service.

Today we are proud to announce the immediate availability of Advanced Site Search 3.0.3 (build 1332), which is fully compatible with Joomla! 1.5 and 2.5!

This is a maintenance release.

Notes: This release is to fix an issue in the Joomla 2.5 installation process of Advanced Site Search.

I’m sure many of you have noticed all the new releases and announcements in the last few months as we have been working hard to keep step with new releases of Joomla 2.5.

Similarly, many of our site-building colleagues have also been busy upgrading their sites to Joomla 2.5.

One of our favorite go-to web design and development shops is Savvy Panda — owned and operated by Gabe Wahhab.

Gabe and I have been supporting the local Joomla community for years by organizing local Joomla User Group Milwaukee and Joomla Day Midwest.

Today we are announcing more teamwork — a great contest to win a FREE Joomla 2.5 upgrade!

Besides the date and time, knowing the location of meeting, concert or even a flashmob is critical to the success of the event.

JCal Pro® has always included a Contact field where people could include location information for their events. However, this implementation was not always satisfactory.

For example, there was no way to store locations for quick access when creating new events. Thus, the same location had to be manually entered each time it was needed.

In addition, there was no way to display any geographic information about the events scheduled in a particular area.

That all changes with today’s release of JCal Pro®.

I am happy to announce that JCal Pro® 3.1 for Joomla 2.5 is currently available and ships with a robust location manager that overcomes prior limitations and adds exciting, new possibilities for event management and geolocation.

Today we are proud to announce the immediate availability of JCal Pro® 3.1.0 (build 442), which is fully compatible with Joomla! 2.5!

This is a maintenance and feature release.

Notes: This release is to fix issues including some related to migration, performance, module behavior and more as detailed in the changelog.

This version introduces the new Google Maps integrated Location Manager as well as a Media Manager for user uploads.

In the past few weeks there has been lots of buzz about Josetta and we have been fielding tonnes of questions about what it can do and how it is different from other translation solutions.

Given the interest level, we thought it best to summarize the answers to the most common questions we are receiving in a top 10-style list of what makes Josetta so special.

Each year we attend numerous Joomla Days and conferences around the world.

The highlight of these events is always the international J and Beyond or JAB conference. As in past years, we are attending JAB 2012 to meet users, showcase our products and interact with our colleagues.

JAB 2012 is being held in Bad Nauheim, a small town near Frankfurt, Germany where Elvis Presley was stationed during his time in the US Army. Thus, the theme for JAB 2012 is Meet the Joomla Rock Stars. Given the theme, you might spot a few Elvis impersonators in the sessions and perhaps even on stage!

As development continues for Agora Pro — the bulletin board for Joomla — we are happy to announce new features and add-ons.

This week we are highlighting the new themes that were included in version 4.0.01.

Agora Pro Standard now includes 5 great new color variations — Amaranth, Deep Sky, Goldenrod, Olive and Pink.

Agora Pro Ultimate includes the themes in the Standard package as well as Amber, Copper, Dark Red, Green Apple and Tangerine.

As you can see in the previews, all 10 of these new themes are well suited for any light-colored Joomla template.

For some time Agora has had an informal system for identifying new versions.

However, starting with the current release of Agora Pro we have adopted a standardized format to identify new releases.

All releases will now consist of a three-digit identifier such as 4.0.01 — the current version.

The identifier will be formatted as X.Y.Z where:

  • X = major new version with architectural changes. Migration of content is typically required (i.e. 4.0.0 and 5.0.0).
  • Y = minor new version with new features and/or add-ons. Seamlessly upgrades from prior version within the same major version (i.e. 4.1.0 and 4.2.0).
  • Z = maintenance release with bug fixes and language updates. Seamlessly upgrades from prior version within the same minor version (i.e. 4.1.1 and 4.1.2).

If you would like to be notified of when new versions are released, please be sure to subscribe to the Agora New Version Notification newsletter.
